CIPS Local Government Certificate of Competence

The Full Certificate

Aimed at those new to the procurement roles in local government, this course aims to offer you a good grounding in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management and helps you get to grips with working in the Public Sector.

The course is broken into 2 parts:-

Stage 1 – The CIPS Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Purchasing & Supply
Stage 2 – Local Government Purchasing Environment e-learning unit followed by an online assessment.

By successfully completing both these elements, you will be awarded the CIPS Local Government Certificate of Competence.

 

What will I have to do to achieve the full award?

The 2 parts can be completed in any order but both parts need to be completed to gain the full CIPS Local Government Certificate of Competence.

 

Stage 1 CIPS Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Purchasing & Supply

Unit 1 – Effective Negotiation in Purchasing and Supply
Unit 2 – Purchasing Contexts
Unit 3 – Developing Contracts in Purchasing and Supply
Unit 4 – Measuring Purchasing Performance
Unit 5 – Managing Purchasing and Supply Relationships

Stage 2 Local Government Purchasing Environment E-Learning Unit & Online Assessment

 

Broken into 4 modules, this 10-hour online course gives an overview of the Purchasing Environment in Local Government. Each module has interactive quizes and a case study at the end which allow you to test your understanding and they help you prepare for the online assessment.

 

The online assessment takes around an hour to complete during which time you are asked to complete 40 multiple choice questions. Once you've submitted your answers you automatically receive your results - and if you've passed - your Certificate of Completion too.

An Induction Programme

You may be asked by your employer to just complete an induction programme – for this you need to register for the Local Government Purchasing Evironment e-learning module and online assessment only.
