Procurement Plan

Planning your procurement activity and team roles

A procurement plan should be drawn up which identifies a cross- functional project team that will manage your procurement activity (this is the same process as the category teams described under managing indirect spend).

Your team should then determine the time-scales for the procurement, the roles and responsibilities for each member of the team and their objectives. They should also be the people that make all decisions relating to the procurement such as the criteria for selection.

In effect, your procurement team agrees the sourcing option, turns it into a procurement plan and then ensures it is carried through to fruition.
