September function in Newcastle/Hunter Region, 24 September 2008
Topics:
-
Aligning business with corporate strategies
-
Employment in today’s market
A reminder that if you haven't already registered to attend the Newcastle/Hunter funnction, there is still time to do so.
CIPSA will host a function for Newcastle/Hunter Valley members on Wednesday, 24 September featuring three guest speakers.
Three guest speakers will be featured, including:
- Peter Hanna, General Manager, Sourcing and PP Services at One Steel.
- Sally Bartley, a Director of peoplefusion
- Peter Urch, Director of the Contrax Project Division of peoplefusion and CIPSA member
Peter Hanna will speak on the establishment of the sourcing function and its setting in his organisation; while Sally Bartley and Peter Urch will speak on the human resource aspects of procurement, including the employment market and how critical it is for people to include both employment achievements and working history on their resumes. With the economy struggling and positions being consolidated, it is a good opportunity to look at today's market for employment.
Sponsoring the evening is Contrax Project Division of peoplefusion, the only supply chain recruitment specialist in Newcastle.
The function commences at 5.30pm for 6.00pm. You are welcome to invite non-members. Charges are $25.00 for CIPSA members and $35.00 for non-members.
RSVP: Email events@cipsa.com.au to reserve your spot, or phone 13400 765 142. All major credit cards are accepted.

October Social Function In Sydney...Reserve this date!
The NSW committee members have decided to let their hair down, and run a (largely) social function open to all CIPSA members on Thursday 9th October 2008. Yes, a professionally-run trivia evening with a couple of hints of procurement thrown in…at the all-new Lion Nathan offices in the CBD!
The evening will be jointly sponsored by Lion Nathan and Project Control Group (“PCG”). A joint Lion Nathan/PCG team have just completed the new Lion Nathan offices, which are close to the QVB on York Street, and they’re looking for a chance to show it off. For those who were fortunate enough to get tickets to last year’s beer tasting at Lion Nathan’s previous premises…“you ain’t seen nothing yet!”
Full details and booking arrangements will be notified to members shortly. Register your interest by emailing events@cipsa.com.au
End of Year Gala Event

Members are invited to come and celebrate the end of another year at the CIPSA NSW Gala Dinner, to be held at the Darling Harbour Convention Centre in the Bayview Gallery on Friday 28 November, 2008.
This event will be a great opportunity for you to network with other senior procurement managers from a cross section of major companies.
CIPSA is very excited to be presenting Wil Anderson. Wil is a star of television, radio and stage, and as a comedian his stand up is fast, funny and full of razor-sharp observations. Music will be provided by the Slide McBride Band.
Tickets go on sale at the end of September and are priced at $100 per ticket. Please feel free to register your interest at events@cipsa.com.au.
The event is generously sponsored by:
- Jigsaw Search – Platinum Sponsor
- BlueStar Print Group – Gold Sponsor
- SITA Environmental Solutions – Silver Sponsor
- Ecolab - Bronze Sponsor

Seeking NSW Committee Members
The NSW Region is seeking people interested in contributing to the profession through participation in the NSW committee. The committee's primary objective is to provide a network (people, information and social) for procurement people within NSW. Involvement is primarily through attendance at the monthly committee meetings, during which the team plan the region’s functions (including events, locations, sponsorships etc) during the year.
Please contact Region Chairman, Paul Xifaras (via CIPS) with a short CV if you wish to nominate yourself, or if you would like further information.

NSW becomes largest CIPSA Region
The NSW Committee is delighted to note that our Region has the largest number of members of any of the CIPSA Regions in Australia and New Zealand.
Congratulations on being a vital part of our organisation. But don't let's us rest on our laurels: please encourage your colleagues who have not yet joined to become members. This will not only support CIPSA in its work for the purchasing profession but also give them the many benefits of membership.
Further information may be obtained from the CIPSA office on 1300 765 142 or from our website, www.cipsa.com.au
