New professions look towards their future
The Department for Families and Communities, on behalf of CIPSA, hosted Stephen Rowe FCIPS, CPO of Parmalat Australia as the principal keynote speaker at the recent Future Talent Forum event on 24 October 2007.
The afternoon began with a welcome and introduction from Andrew Richmond, Director, Procurement from the Department for Families and Communities and addressed the improvements in their procurement function, and the benefits this has achieved.
Stephen presented on his journey from Purchasing Manager to CPO and went through the evolvement of the procurement profession into a more strategic role within organisations. During his presentation, the importance of gaining experiences across multiple categories and sectors was encouraged. Finally, Stephen discussed the importance of communication and networking in developing your career and this set the scene for a great networking session afterwards involving new professionals across various sectors.
New ideas for future events next year are more than welcome so please feel free to email any suggestions to Marissa Brown on marissa.brown@baesystems.com
